WFP São Tomé and Príncipe
Overview
Logistics operations have been implemented by WFP staff and by staff from the Logistic Coordination Unit – LCU (established by the government – Ministry of Education to support WFP on management of the warehouse). In Principe Island the NGO Santa Casa da Misericordia does the management of food aid on behalf of WFP.

Activities
Storage
The logistics infrastructure in-country consists of a warehouse complex built with funds from WFP. It is located in Sao Tomé Island, with three stores (900 m2, 600 m2 and 334 m2) and two offices.
Surface Transport
Three transport contractors are responsible for delivering food aid to the final delivery points in Sao Tome (a total of 180 FDPs) and one in Principe (20 FDPs). From Sao Tome to Principe, food aid is transported by boat and there is only one reliable shipping agent.
Rail
There are no rail services in San Tome and Principe.
Aviation
There are currently no aviation services in San Tome and Principe.
